For anyone who wants more than a seven-minute appointment

NHS antenatal care is stretched. Appointments are short. Midwives are doing their best with the time they have. But if you have ever left an appointment with the same questions you arrived with, this is for you.

You do not need to be anxious or high-risk to book. You just need to want real answers from someone who actually knows.

First-time parents
You have read everything and still feel underprepared. You want someone to tell you what it is actually like — and what to do when things do not go to plan.
People who have been here before
A previous birth has left you with questions, fears, or a clear idea of what you want to do differently this time.
Partners and birth companions
You want to support someone you love well. You want to understand what is happening and know how to actually help in the room.
Those navigating complexity
A consultant-led pregnancy, a planned caesarean, VBAC, or a situation where you want a senior clinician's view before you make decisions.

Your session.
Your questions.
All of them.

There is no agenda other than yours. Emma works through what matters to you — whether that is one specific concern or a list you have been building for months.

The full session gives us time to be thorough. The express session keeps things focused. Either way, you will not leave with questions you did not get to ask.

01
A proper review of your birth plan
Not a polite skim. We go through it together — what each choice means in practice, what is realistic in your specific unit, and how to communicate your wishes clearly so they are actually heard.
02
Honest answers to every question
Pain relief, monitoring, positions, interventions, what to pack, when to go in, what your rights are — whatever is on your list, it gets a proper answer, with the evidence behind it.
03
A personalised approach to your labour
Your circumstances, your preferences, your concerns. We build a clear picture of how you want your labour to feel — and what you can realistically do to get there.
04
Confidence walking through the door
What to expect, what to ask for, and how to advocate for yourself when you arrive at hospital. You will know what a good birth looks like for you — and how to ask for it.

Not just information.
Clarity.

A birth plan that reflects you
Reviewed, refined, and grounded in what is genuinely possible. Written for your care team as much as for yourself.
Answers you can actually use
Specific, evidence-based answers to the questions that have been sitting with you — explained clearly, without jargon or false reassurance.
A personalised approach to your labour
A clear sense of what matters most to you, and a practical plan for how to advocate for that when you are in the room.
Confidence you did not have before
The kind that comes from actually understanding what is happening — not from being told not to worry.

The most knowledgeable friend
you never knew you needed

Emma has been a midwife since 2008. She has worked in NHS trusts across England, a hospital in Rome, Italy, and a maternity unit in the UAE. She holds an MSc in Midwifery from the University of Dundee and has spent much of the past decade working at senior level in quality, safety, and maternity policy — including as Head of Quality at an NHS Integrated Care Board.

She led a national NHS task and finish group on maternity care quality metrics alongside NHS England; her work is now embedded in national guidance. She created these sessions because she knows exactly what women are not getting from routine antenatal appointments — and she believes every woman deserves access to honest, expert, personalised information before she gives birth.

"I have sat in enough antenatal appointments to know how much does not get said. That is why I built these sessions. You deserve proper answers — not reassurance, not rushing, not someone glancing at the clock."
