What you will leave knowing
Five things you will be able to do differently after this session
- By the end of this session, you will be able to explain what happens at each antenatal appointment and why, so that you arrive prepared and leave with your questions answered, before your next scheduled midwife visit.
- By the end of this session, you will be able to identify which screening tests and scans are routine and which require a decision from you, so that you can give informed consent with confidence rather than just going along with what you are told, at every appointment from now on.
- By the end of this session, you will be able to prepare a list of specific questions to bring to your next midwife or consultant appointment, so that you make the most of every ten-minute slot and leave feeling heard, before you next attend a clinical appointment.
- By the end of this session, you will be able to recognise the warning signs that need prompt attention and describe them clearly to a health professional, so that you can act quickly and without second-guessing yourself, at any point from now until after your baby is born.
- By the end of this session, you will be able to choose and articulate your birth preferences with a clear rationale, so that you can have a confident, informed conversation with your midwife or care team, before you reach 36 weeks.

Emma Rajakrishnen

She holds an MSc in Midwifery from the University of Dundee and has spent her career combining frontline clinical care with quality improvement and patient advocacy. When Emma talks about maternity care, she talks about it as someone who has sat on both sides of the conversation — and who knows exactly where the gaps are.
What past attendees say
Hear from women who have attended
"This programme was more than a source of information — it was a true guide throughout my entire pregnancy. Every stage was explained with patience and professionalism, giving me reassurance and peace of mind. What makes it truly special is Emma herself: warmth and unconditional support, available at any hour."
"I discovered Elythia at 34 weeks and by 38 weeks I already felt so much more prepared for birth. Emma is a midwife with years of experience who genuinely wants to help you understand how the system works and how to prepare. After a session with her, things become so much clearer."
